Acupuncture is a modality of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), as well as the more broad umbrella of traditional East Asian medicine (TEAM). Centering around the principles of balance, harmony with nature, and preventative medicine, which are the main concepts in TCM, acupuncture is a gentle but powerful treatment that influences the body’s self-regulating systems and stimulates the body’s natural repair mechanisms. Guided by predetermined channels that traverse the body, your acupuncturist will strategically place hair-thin pins at locations that stimulate the release of chemicals in your brain, which can alter the experience of pain, reduce inflammation, regulate hormones, and calm the nervous system. Because of this widespread effect, acupuncture treats a variety of conditions, including acute/chronic pain, autoimmune conditions such as fibromyalgia, women’s health such as menopause and fertility, and mental health issues such as stress and anxiety. Curious whether acupuncture may benefit you? Reach out today.
